The first snowfall hits Kashmir

Oh yeah! The first snow of the season has arrived in Gulmarg and if the quantity is anything to go by, we’re in for a killer season. A large storm front passed through the Kashmir Valley on Thursday the 13th bringing with it heavy snowfall that continued throughout Friday, dumping a reported three feet of fresh in Gulmarg. It is rare for snow to arrive this early in November in the Valley and in such a volume, so the word around town is that a bumper season is upon us.

The road from Tangmarg to Gulmarg was blocked for some time as snow-clearing machines weren’t quite ready for the dump and portions of the valley went without power after lines went down. Its great news for anyone planning a trip to Gulmarg, keep checking online for up to date reports on the snow conditions
